Georges Rakotomanana |
“Painting, is pure happiness!” |
At a very young age, Georges participated in a poster competition and realised how much he enjoyed drawing.
After finishing high school, he taught in Province and started drawing portraits.
In 1982, back in Antananarivo, Georges met a group of painters at an exhibition which included Raparivo and Hans Ranaivason.
Hans Ranaivason ended up teaching him painting for a few months.
He successfully started exhibiting his art from 1983; “I expose everything…my happiness and my pain. ”
Georges specialises in oil painting which offers a wider range of colours, and uses contrasting values to accentuate the wonderful flamboyant trees and the landscapes of Madagascar.
Georges exhibited at Moulin Casse and at Caundan Water Front in Mauritius. And of course, George is a permanent artist at Zach Edith Gallery.
