| “Art gives beauty to the ordinary, it is a pleasure to behold” |
“Of course,” says Rolinah, “a painting should be more beautiful than a mere photo. The artist adds a certain personal touch, a feeling, a point of view which renders the simple extraordinary.” This is Rolinah’s approach to his art.
Drawing led him to comic-book work and at the age of 20 he started painting in oils whilst completing his degree in Economics at the University of Antananarivo.
One of the first members of the “Sarikanto” Association in Antsirabe, he has exhibited many times in Antsirabe and in the capital with his fellow members Fulgence and Michel Randria.
His studio is perched on the top floor of his family home from where he captures the unique light that illuminates the delicate landscapes of Madagascar.
